1/2 of kitchen that is 1/2 way done :)
I am currently in the middle of about 12 projects. Since I have been home all I can see is everything that has been put off for about 3 years. If you put a family of 5, 3 dogs, a mechanic shop, a farm and having 3 of the people that live here being the Rotten's then you can only imagine the chaos that has been going on here with no time for repairs or proper cleaning. It is OVERWHELMING and exciting at the same time. I love that I can fully focus on my home and family, but man oh man there is a lot to be done.
The above picture is a sidetrack project that I did yesterday. Now I say side track project because it took my attention away from the other 11 projects I should have been focusing on. I don't even know the proper name of those type of pictures but I love the look of the same size of squares along with the randomness of pictures. I have seen it done with material and when I started looking for the supplies I realized how pricey the type of material I liked would make this project, so I came up with an idea. Mod Podge and scrapbook paper! I am fairly certain that I am not the first person to come up with this fabulous idea but it's new to me and I am feeling pretty brilliant! The entire project cost less than $16 which is awesome in itself!

Supplies- frames, paper, mod podge, foam brush, spray paint.
I found the pictures on sale for $2.80 and then spray painted the edges red. I have heard that you can use styrofoam for this but I am not sure about mod podge and styrofoam. I would imagine you can use just about anything lightweight and square to do a project like this. The only thing I strongly suggest is buying all of them at once so you are not spending hours trying to find the right size.
I loved the idea of scrap book paper because there are a million options to choose from and instead of $9 a yard it was .59 a sheet of paper.
To start...
Trim your paper to fit the squares.
If needed paint the sides of your frames and allow to completely dry.

Wrinkles come out don't worry!
Brush the front of the picture frames with mod podge, put on the paper and coat the top and sides with mod podge. The paper will wrinkle and that is okay because when it dries it flattens out, thank goodness I was worried about that one!
Easy right?!
Now onto one of the following projects while finishing the kitchen project that was started, wish me luck!

Old barn wood and picture frames bought for $35 SO MANY IDEAS FOR THIS!
For whatever reason I am not able to figure out what is going on with my links on the posts. It will not let me add them in. So on the right side of my blog there is a button link to Beyond The Picket Fence and you should go check it out. There are 100's of ides for under $100! As a matter of fact that stack of barnwood will be made into awesomeness because of several of the tutorials there.

That is brilliant!
