Selling Cherries and Being a Kid

Trees just over the fence in our back yard

Today I have been thinking about how grateful I am to live where we do.  It becomes so routine that sometimes I forget how unique our
life here in this small community is.
It seems perfectly normal to say okay when our kids tell us they are
getting on the four wheeler, heading up above the canal and picking
sweet cherries with a BB gun in hand.
Or when our 11 year old asks to drive the car
on our way out of town and we just
hop in the passenger seat.  It is such an easy fun way to grow up.
We rarely see our kids in the house playing video games
 or just sitting around.
The thing we end up doing most is
tracking them down from
some adventure they have went on!

Carson driving

Today their friend was sitting on the side of the road selling bags of cherries.  He told my Rotten's that when he was done it was okay if they took over the territory and sold cherries too.  It took them about 2.5 seconds to go pick cherries, make a sign and get ready to go!

All the necessary sales tools

The funniest thing about it all is we do not even own the cherry trees and luckily the owners are nice enough to let the kids pick the cherries (thank you).  So I believe that is 100% profit for the lucky little buggers!

They left with a cooler, sign and 5 bags of cherries to get set up at the busiest stop sign in town.  Now when I say busiest, I mean that maybe 10 people drive by in an hour span.

How could you not stop?

About 20 minutes after I took the above photo they were back at the house looking like this...

Making Money

Thanks to one of their customers (Mr. Fabulous' best friend) that bought 3 bags, they sold out right away!  So of course they went and picked 10 more bags of cherries and headed back out the door.
They are still gone at this point and I find myself thinking about when I was a kid and sold lemonade, cookies, puppies, old toys and anything else we could think of from a little stand out in front of our home.  Because of where we live my kids can enjoy the same little things and it makes my heart so happy.

    1. That would be awesome if we were neighbors!! We just need all of our blog friends to move to the same location and we would all be so happy!

    2. I have it all planned. I win a big-ass lottery, buy the huge ranch I've been dreaming of, and everyone comes and lives with me!
